- The Canadian Prime Minister announced a change in the country's economic course due to Trump's actions.

Canada intends to reduce its economic dependence on the United States and rebuild its economy taking into account the policies of US President Donald Trump. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters at a press conference on March 27.
"We will fight American tariffs through independent retaliatory actions that will have the maximum effect in the United States and the minimum effect in Canada," he said.
Carney also added that he would reject any attempts to weaken Canada, and the United States is no longer a reliable partner. The prime minister also said that he had agreed with Trump to hold a conversation during which they would discuss protecting their workers and building the economy.
"We will build a new Canadian economy. We will make Canada strong," Carney said.
He also stressed that from July 1, a law will be in force in Canada to ensure the free circulation of goods throughout the country. This will eliminate federal barriers that prevented trade between the provinces and territories of Canada.
"The time will come for a broad review of our trade relations with the United States in the field of security and defense. That is why I will work intensively with our business partners, studying labor practices, territories and provinces in order to find more ways to help Canadians survive the crisis," the Prime Minister said.
On March 13, the Canadian authorities filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) over the duties imposed by the United States on Canadian steel and aluminum. According to the Canadian authorities, the measures imposed by the United States violate Washington's obligations under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) of 1994.
