- FAS was asked to check the objectivity of prices in Russia after the fall of the dollar

The FAS is asked to check the objectivity of the pricing of goods in Russia after the fall of the dollar. Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, prepared an appeal with such a request addressed to Maxim Shaskolsky, head of the service.
"Both experts and ordinary consumers agree that the usual mathematical logic does not apply to the same groups of goods (both food and non-food) with a consistent significant weakening and then an equally significant strengthening of the ruble exchange rate. In the first case, prices are rising noticeably, in the second, contrary to expectations, at best they remain at the same high level without a downward trend, and in many areas they continue to grow altogether," the document says, which is available to Izvestia.
It also notes that in the context of the sanctioned development of the Russian economy, import substitution processes in various sectors remain an absolute priority for the country's leadership. And "quite tangible successes in this area" are increasingly becoming the basis for the formation of certain positive expectations of society.
"In turn, the discrepancy between these expectations of the real situation and the continued price increase amid the lack of public official explanations causes justified social tension," Yaroslav Nilov informs Maxim Shaskolsky.
In this regard, he asks the FAS to take control of the pricing mechanisms for the basic categories of products and goods of Russian manufacturers in the context of exchange rate fluctuations.
"When they explained to us the increase in prices within Russia as a dependence on the increase in the cost of imports, it was understandable. But now we are seeing a different picture, the dollar has fallen, and commodity prices are not rolling back. Therefore, we ask the FAS to take this situation under its control and figure out such pricing," Yaroslav Nilov explained to Izvestia.
On March 26, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin named middlemen's margins as one of the main factors driving up food prices. Mishustin stressed that the FAS is closely monitoring the price situation. If necessary, she takes drastic measures. The Head of government also stated the importance of increasing the level of control more actively.
