Elise Stefanik's candidacy for the post of Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations was withdrawn in order to retain her seat in the House of Representatives. This was announced on March 27 by US President Donald Trump.

"We must come together to fulfill our mission, and Elisa Stefanik has been an important part of our efforts from the very beginning. I asked Elise, as one of my biggest allies, to stay in Congress to help me deliver historic tax cuts, great jobs, and record economic growth," he wrote on the Truth Social network.

Trump also noted that there are a large number of people who will do an excellent job at the UN, and he is not ready to risk Stefanik's place in the House of Representatives. Moreover, the American leader is confident that she will win re-election, as people love her.

The Hill reported on March 27 that Trump rejected the idea of resigning Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth after the scandal with the leak of data on the strikes of the American armed forces in Yemen, as he is doing his job well and has nothing to do with the data leak.
