In Primorsky Krai, the investigation of a criminal case against a foreigner who is accused of smuggling timber on a large scale has been completed. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The investigation believes that the man colluded with a previously convicted resident of the village of Chuguevka. Through a fictitious law firm, they organized the movement of timber across the customs border using forged declarations.

The cost of the smuggled timber exceeded 1 million rubles. They managed to seize it, the prosecutor's office said.

The investigation of the criminal case under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of strategically important resources committed by a group of persons by prior agreement on a large scale") has been completed. The materials were submitted to the Artyomovsky City Court for consideration.

According to the PrimaMedia news agency, the criminal case against a resident of the village of Chuguevka has been separated into a separate proceeding.

In February, it was reported that a criminal investigation into the smuggling of more than 6 thousand cubic meters of timber worth more than 49 million rubles was completed in Transbaikalia, in which a 52-year-old citizen of an East Asian country with experience in exporting strategically important resources is accused. The foreigner involved two Russians in criminal activity.
