In Belorechensk, a court placed under house arrest the former stepmother of a nine-year-old boy who was bitten by two huskies in Sochi. The woman is suspected of stealing 3 million rubles intended for his treatment. This was announced on March 27 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

"To choose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for a period of two months, that is, until May 23, 2025," the judge announced the decision.

A criminal case has been opened against the woman on the grounds of a crime under part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft").

The boy's father told Izvestia about the theft of funds for treatment on March 24. The man explained that back in 2018, he wrote a general power of attorney in the name of the child's stepmother to resolve property issues. The document was issued for 10 years, so the man believed that it had already expired, but his ex-wife withdrew the money from the account and did not contact him.

An attack by two huskies on a nine-year-old child took place in Sochi on February 26. The dogs were unattended by the owner, they were driven away from the boy by passers-by. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 1 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing serious harm to health by negligence").

After that, on March 4, surgeon Alexey Dikarev told Izvestia that the boy needed to have a reconstruction of his mouth, lips, cheeks and nose. According to him, similar operations are performed in many medical institutions in Russia.
