- A Russian woman told about the moment of the crash of a bathyscaphe with tourists in Egypt

The Sinbad bathyscaphe, which sank off the coast of Hurghada, began to receive water through hatches almost immediately after people boarded the ship. Ekaterina, a tourist, told Izvestia about this on March 27.
The girl clarified that she went on an excursion with her husband, mother and daughter.
"When we started going down to take our seats, water suddenly started pouring. There were two hatches open, and water poured out, as if the submarine had fallen off what it was holding on to. Someone managed to swim out, someone did not," she recalled.
Boats that were located nearby in the water area came to the aid of the participants of the excursion.
"They took my daughter and my mother. And we, who were more or less able to get out, were taken by boat separately," Ekaterina added.
The tourist noted that after the incident, her mother and daughter are in serious condition.
In turn, as a participant in one of these dives explained to Izvestia, the groups are taken to the Sinbad by boat, then launched inside a bathyscaphe, which plunges to depth. At the same time, no protective equipment is provided, she said.
The crash of a bathyscaphe with Russians on board off the coast of Hurghada became known earlier that day. There were 45 Russian citizens on the ship. As a result of the incident, five tourists from Russia were killed, including two minors. The company Sharm Hurghada Excursions, which organized the tour, told Izvestia that the bathyscaphe had been in operation for about 10 years.
Prior to that, the Consulate General reported on the rescue of 38 Russians. Of these, 24 people were taken to hotels, the remaining 14 citizens were hospitalized.
