The Moldovan authorities are ready to use all means to achieve the arrest of the detained head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul. This was stated on March 27 by Vadim Fotescu, a member of the Moldovan parliament from the Pobeda opposition bloc, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the Moldovan authorities are actively trying to confuse the people of the republic. The next hearing on the case of illegal financing of a political party, in which Hutsuls are suspected of involvement, is scheduled for April 4, but the prosecutor's office has already asked the judge to choose a measure of restraint for the politician.

The authorities explain the rush by the fact that the head of Gagauzia allegedly tried to hide from the investigation abroad. However, according to Fotescu, in fact, there are no grounds for suspicion of attempts to escape from the country.

"The goal is clear — to achieve the arrest of Evgenia Hutsul by any means," the parliamentarian noted.

According to the deputy, now the head of Gagauzia is probably awaiting charges in his criminal case. What exactly is imputed to politics is likely to become known soon.

Earlier in the day, Hutsul asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to influence the Moldovan authorities for her early release, as well as to support the autonomous status of Gagauzia. She also stated that Chisinau is going to introduce a state of emergency in Gagauzia and the external administration of the autonomy.

On March 25, it became known about the detention of the head of Gagauzia at the Chisinau airport without explanation. The Pobeda block reported that the politician was supposed to fly to Istanbul, where she was scheduled to meet. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, Hutsul was detained after her name appeared on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country.

Later, the head of Gagauzia was taken to the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) of Moldova, and her lawyers are with her. The NAC reported that in the near future Hutsul will be formally charged with violating the procedure for managing election funds, illegally financing election competitors and falsifying documents, and prosecutors will request the court to place her under preliminary arrest.
