Installation of the barrier fence is being completed on the Kola highway

The installation of a barrier fence is being completed on busy sections of the federal highway R-21 "Cola" in the Murmansk region. As of today, the total length of the retrofitted sections of the road is more than 9 km, according to the press service of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Updor Kola, subordinate to Rosavtodor.
Dividing barriers appeared between oncoming lanes from 1381 to 1382 km, as well as at the entrance to Severomorsk in several sections from 0 to 15 km.
"The installation of barrier fences is just one of the elements of a set of measures aimed at improving safety on the federal road network within the borders of Karelia and the Murmansk Region," the ministry explained, as quoted by Bi—port news agency.
Additionally, the specialists of Updor Cola are constantly expanding the network of illuminated sections on the roads under operational control. Today, their total length in the two regions exceeds 330 km. This is more than 12% of the total mileage of roads.
Also, to increase traffic safety along the "Track", longitudinal noise strips are applied to the road surface. They help motorists identify car contact with the edge of the roadway and prevent oncoming traffic in the most difficult areas.
Earlier it was reported that Russia is going to invest almost 2 trillion rubles in the development of the Northern Sea Route by 2035.
