Western countries have no choice but to stop trying to substitute their own rules for the principles of the United Nations (UN). This was stated on March 27 by Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, speaking at the International Scientific and Diplomatic Congress dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Yalta Conference of the Heads of the three states of the anti-Hitler coalition.

"As long as the Western minority does not realize that it has no choice but to abandon the undermining of the foundations of the United Nations and return to an equal dialogue with all interested players, attempts to replace the Charter of the world organization with the so—called rules-based order will continue," the diplomat said.

According to him, the West imposes its own rules on the world, without ensuring the equal participation of the countries of the world majority. In response, Russia will continue its efforts to strengthen international law and the role of the United Nations.

"And only if a common agreement is reached, the United Nations will be able to restore trust, overcome differences, come to a common denominator on most issues on the agenda, and stabilize the international situation," Logvinov concluded.

Earlier in the day, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said that Russia's authority in the organization remains unshakeable amid the intrigues of Western countries. The representative noted that the respect of the UN member states for the Russian Federation has only grown due to Moscow's firm and independent position in upholding its interests.
