Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the Workshop 12 theater after the restoration. The first performances on the new stage will take place in April, the mayor said in his Telegram.

According to him, the theater on Povarskaya Street has unique stage equipment.

"This is no longer just a theater, but a new cultural space where experimental productions, festivals, concerts, film screenings, and presentations can be held," Sobyanin said.

During the restoration work, special attention was paid to preserving and recreating historical details and elements: ribbon and stained glass windows, columns in the main foyer. Specialists also restored the facades and columns of the main entrance. A media facade was placed above the main entrance.

The transformer hall with more than 600 seats has also been renovated: it is now equipped with a unique immersion acoustics system. In addition, a technical opportunity has appeared for use in hologram productions. In turn, the small hall can be used as a television studio or a platform for broadcasting performances.

A cinema hall with 24 seats was built on the basement floor of the theater. "The possibilities of the new theater will help realize the most ambitious directorial ideas," the mayor suggested.

The theater building is an object of cultural heritage, and for many decades it has never been comprehensively renovated. Restoration work began in 2021.
