New dates for when a group of Ukrainian children will be reunited with their relatives in Russia through the mediation of the Qatari Embassy have not yet been approved, Alexey Gazaryan, head of the office of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, told Izvestia.

"The group is traveling through Russia, then through Belarus to Ukraine — there are several border posts, not a single stop along the way. Many people come from new regions. When all this comes together, we start the process, find out the dates and immediately share them with the journalists," Gazaryan said.

On March 27, in Moscow, with the assistance of Maria Lvova-Belova, the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, and through the mediation of the State of Qatar, five children (two girls and three boys aged 11 to 17) They reunited with their moms and dads living in Ukraine.

One of the mothers, Svetlana, says that even before the outbreak of hostilities, she went to work in the Kiev region, and left her son with her grandmother in the Luhansk region. For several years, she did not have the opportunity to meet the child.

"I probably couldn't have gotten there on my own." On my own, it would be dangerous and difficult for me financially. My mother asked for help before the New Year, we collected the documents and the reunion took place quickly," Svetlana told Izvestia.

In total, with the assistance of the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, 20 children from 13 families with relatives in Russia and 100 children from 80 families were reunited with relatives in Ukraine and in third countries. Qatar participates in the negotiation process and provides the entire logistical process.

Earlier, on December 5, 2024, Maria Lvova-Belova, the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, said that the reunification of children with their families in Ukraine and Russia would continue. She noted that 15 children from 10 families in Russia and 87 children from 69 families in Ukraine and in third countries have already managed to organize a meeting with relatives.
