Russian tourists often get into unpleasant situations due to changes in the rules for children traveling abroad. Ekaterina Dolgikh, Head of Marketing at Tutu Aviation service, told Izvestia on March 28 about what should be considered this year before traveling with children to Abkhazia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and South Ossetia.

"Some countries require children to be registered in a parent's passport. Previously, this was treated more mildly, but since 2024 the rules have been tightened," the expert explained.

As an example, she cited a tourist who had difficulty entering Abkhazia last year. She has three children, but only one was registered in the passport. As an exception, they were allowed through on their birth certificates, but they were warned that this would no longer work.

"A child under the age of 14 can enter Abkhazia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and South Ossetia on a birth certificate. But the document should now have a note on citizenship on the reverse side," Dolgikh reminded.

According to the expert, such a mark is also useful in cases when a child is traveling with a parent, but is not registered in his internal or foreign passport. Another option is to take a child's foreign passport, then you don't need a birth certificate with a stamp on the back.

A birth certificate stamp is needed not only to cross the border, but also to obtain your first passport and passport. You can install it in the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or in the MFC.

"A child sometimes needs additional documents for a trip abroad. For example, consent to travel from parents. Carefully study all the requirements before traveling and put the documents in order to enjoy your vacation in peace," the expert recommended.

Earlier, on March 20, it was reported that Russians began to choose Rome more often for trips abroad. Thus, the number of hotel bookings in this city among Russians in April increased by 69% compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the OneTwoTrip travel planning service. Among the destinations within the Russian Federation, St. Petersburg remains the most popular, with the Northern Capital accounting for 19.2%.
