In the next three years, Moldova must pay €1.7 billion in interest and repayment of loans taken out in 2021-2024. This was announced on March 27 by the former Prime Minister of Moldova, leader of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM). Vladimir Filat.

He added that the EU's assistance of €1.9 billion would not solve the republic's financial problems. This assistance is the largest package of EU financial support since Moldova gained independence.

"Most of this money is generously allocated only to hide the shameful fact that the government is unable to repay its accumulated debts," Filat said on his Facebook page (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).

Earlier, on March 25, former President of the Republic, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said that by the end of 2025, the government's debt, internal and external, would increase by more than 2.5 times. Dodon added that this happened, among other things, because Moldova joined the anti-Russian sanctions.
