The State Duma assessed Kiev's statements about the need for foreign mercenaries

The United States will not tolerate Kiev's statements about the need for mercenaries instead of peacekeepers. Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Crimean region and a member of the security committee, told Izvestia on March 27.
The day before, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported on the social network X (ex. Twitter) with reference to a Ukrainian official that Kiev needs foreign military, not peacekeepers. It was noted that Ukraine does not need a peace mission.
The MP noted that Washington, as part of the negotiations, is currently acting as a guarantor that Ukraine will not interfere with the peaceful settlement process. In his opinion, after the relevant statements of the Kiev regime, the American side can draw certain conclusions.
"I am sure that the American side, which came out with a peaceful initiative, acted as a guarantor that the Ukrainian side would comply and act exactly in the direction that was expected — in a peaceful manner — and would draw certain conclusions. I am sure that I will tolerate the antics of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] No one is going to Zelensky and will not be," Sheremet said.
He added that the presence of foreign legions in Ukraine would be perceived as a threat to the security of the Russian Federation. In this case, Moscow will be forced to take the necessary measures.
According to him, the future of Ukraine and Zelensky's subsequent actions will be determined by the United States.
"All these desires of his (Zelensky's. — Ed.) are practically not feasible," the deputy said, adding that the Ukrainian leader is trying to disrupt the peace agreements, which are already being put on paper today.
Zelensky should currently think more about holding transparent democratic elections in Ukraine, Sheremet concluded.
Also on March 27, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow was categorically against the deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine, as this could lead to a clash between Russia and NATO. She noted that in the West this initiative is called a "peace mission," although in fact it is about military intervention in Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping operation.
