The expert spoke about the calculation of sick leave in case of dismissal in 2025


Igor Balynin, associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told how sick leave payments will be calculated in 2025 in case of dismissal within a month.
In conversation with aif.ru On Thursday, March 27, the specialist reminded that sick leave or temporary disability allowance is a social payment for one of the types of compulsory social insurance.
Sick leave is granted not only to working employees, but also within 30 days after dismissal. Compensation in this case is assigned in the amount of 60% of the average daily earnings for the previous two years. That is, the first three days are paid for by the employer for whom the person worked before being fired, and the following days are already funded by the Social Fund of Russia.
On March 21, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, announced that the agency plans to reduce the temporary disability rate to 15% by 2030. According to him, in more than 70% of cases, employees drop out of the work process due to infectious diseases. In this regard, according to the Minister, it is important to solve the problem of the length of sick leave and reduce the number of sick days by affordable measures.
Prior to that, on January 10, the press service of the Social Fund of Russia reported that the maximum amount of payment for hospital benefits in 2025 is 172,488.69 rubles per month. The largest daily payout will be 5673.97 rubles. For employees who earn less than the minimum wage or have insurance experience of less than six months, the average daily earnings are calculated taking into account the minimum wage — 22,440 rubles, NSN specifies.
