Ilan Shor called on Moldovan law enforcement agencies to stop violence against Hutsul

Ilan Shor, the leader of the Pobeda opposition bloc, called on Moldovan law enforcement agencies to stop violence against the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul. He posted the corresponding post on his Telegram channel on March 27.
The politician noted that the head of the autonomy was detained illegitimately and cruelly. Hutsul is the mother of a small child, and she is responsible for the leadership of Gagauzia, he recalled.
According to the leader of the Pobeda bloc, the head of the autonomy always complied with court orders, had no restrictions on movement and did not violate the law.
"All responsibility now lies solely with you. I hope that you will return to the field of legality and stop this violence against Evgenia Hutsul and our fragile democracy," Shor said, addressing law enforcement agencies.
The detention of the head of the Gagauz autonomy at the Chisinau airport without explanation became known on March 25. The Pobeda block reported that the politician was supposed to fly to Istanbul, where she was scheduled to meet. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, Hutsul was detained after her name appeared on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country.
Later, the head of Gagauzia was taken to the National Anti-Corruption Center of Moldova, where they reported that in the near future Hutsul would be formally charged with violating the procedure for managing election funds, illegally financing election competitors and falsifying documents, and prosecutors would ask the court to place her under preliminary arrest.
On March 27, Hutsul asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to influence the Moldovan authorities for her early release, as well as to support the autonomous status of Gagauzia. She also stated that the Moldovan authorities are going to introduce a state of emergency in Gagauzia and the external administration of the autonomy.
