Employers have listed the main mistakes of applicants at the interview


According to the employers surveyed, almost half of applicants (47%) make the mistake of coming to an interview with complete indifference to the tasks ahead. This is stated in the results of a study of the services "Work.<url>" and "SberPodbor", which were reviewed by Izvestia on March 28.
They are immediately followed by 45% of candidates who have not familiarized themselves with the company's activities and the specifics of the vacancy. At the same time, 42% of respondents pay attention if an applicant speaks negatively about a previous job or boss. Being late for an interview is a common mistake that 27% of candidates make.
However, 17% of applicants have difficulty answering questions about their achievements, which makes recruiters suspicious. Inappropriate dress code is another blunder for 16% of candidates. In addition, 9% of applicants get too carried away talking about their hobbies and personal lives, forgetting about the main purpose of the interview.
At the same time, more than half of recruiters (55%) said that they consider personal questions from applicants that violate the boundaries of professional communication inappropriate. 32% of recruitment specialists are annoyed by questions about the timing of salary increases, and 31% of respondents consider it inappropriate to clarify the company's attitude to delays and time off at the first interview.
In addition, employers noted that 19% of applicants come to an interview without understanding what position they are applying for. 17% of companies consider questions about the number of competitors for a vacancy to be inappropriate. The same number (17%) do not understand job seekers who do not learn about the company's activities in advance.
Another 15% of the study participants noted that they do not like it when candidates are interested in how strictly their online presence is monitored during the day when working remotely, and 4% when they are asked about their career prospects.
Speaking about hidden barriers to hiring, more than half of companies (54%) admitted that they prefer Russian citizens. A quarter of employers (24%) tend to choose men for certain positions. At the same time, 20% of respondents rely on experienced older employees, making it more difficult for young professionals to find employment. Another 15% of employers set a strict requirement for higher education.
At the same time, 11% of companies, on the contrary, prefer women in some positions, and 10% of employers rely on young professionals. And only 1% of companies admit that the candidate's zodiac sign plays a role in making a hiring decision.
"When searching for staff, employers have identified the top 3 hidden barriers: the candidate must be a Russian citizen, a man and with work experience. When selecting line staff, companies rely on young people with Russian citizenship and higher education. And when hiring middle managers, preference is given to citizens of the Russian Federation with experience and higher education," the results of the study say.
