UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay's personality is biased, as she openly sympathizes with Kiev and the West, which is why her activities as a reputable organization lead to further murders of journalists. This was announced on March 27 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The current Director General (of UNESCO) is de facto playing along with the Kiev authorities and their Western patrons, and her bias has become her disgrace. Apparently, she also thought that she would sit out — no, she did not. And the worst thing is that her activities are direct and lead to further murders of journalists," she said at a briefing.

The diplomat noted that Azoulay's activities were most accurately described by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, saying that her refusal to comply with the mandate in the field of crimes against media workers makes the UNESCO Director General essentially an accomplice in the information war against Russia, the war against the truth.

Zakharova stressed that Moscow, together with like-minded people, will continue to strive for the fulfillment of its mandate by the UNESCO Director General.

Also, answering a question from Izvestia, Zakharova indicated that Russia is ready to recognize the murder of journalists in the special military operation zone as a terrorist act. This is how Zakharova commented on the death of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak during the performance of his professional duty.

Earlier, on March 24, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak was killed in the special operation zone. He worked in the Luhansk People's Republic and the Kharkiv region. Fedorchak's latest report on the situation in the Kupyansk area was broadcast on March 23. A memorial was erected in the Izvestia News Center building as a sign of mourning for the deceased correspondent.

On March 26, it became known that Anna Prokofieva, a military correspondent for Channel One, was killed while performing her professional duty in the Belgorod Region, and cameraman Dmitry Volkov was also injured.
