Passenger car production in Russia increased by 13%

Production of passenger cars in Russia in January-February 2025 increased by 12.8% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest data from Rosstat.

In total, 115 thousand passenger cars were produced in the Russian Federation in the first two months of 2025, of which 60.8 thousand units were produced in February.

During this period, truck production amounted to 22.4 thousand units and decreased by 20.1% year-on-year. Bus production also fell: in the first two months of this year, 1.4 thousand buses weighing more than 5 tons (-41.9%) and 2.3 thousand weighing up to 5 tons (-20.4%) were produced in the Russian Federation.

In addition, the production of internal combustion engines for motor vehicles for the specified period amounted to 32.7 thousand units, which is 1.7% less than in January-February 2024.

Earlier that day, it was reported that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will soon begin equipping cars of the new and old UAZ model ranges with engines of an improved design. The improved ZMZ 409th family engines will receive the Patriot, Pickup, Pro and Loaf models.

The day before, it became known that in the near future, serial production of six-speed transmissions for the rear-wheel drive diesel UAZ Profi will begin at the facilities of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ). In the future, the production of such a transmission will be adjusted for UAZ Patriot SUVs with diesel engines.
