Alexey Lungu, the leader of the opposition Chance party in Moldova, was unable to fly from Chisinau. He stated this on March 27 to the First in Moldova TV channel.
The politician said that he was banned from flying, and border police officers checked him twice.
"Someone whispered to me that the staff of the National Anti-Corruption Center is already on their way, and I'm not going anywhere today. He stressed that he was not involved in the criminal case, calling what was happening another lawlessness of the current Moldovan authorities.
"We understand everything, and they understand that the ground is falling out from under their feet, and they are trying to somehow stay in power," concluded the leader of Chance.
Earlier, on March 25, it became known about the detention of the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, at the Chisinau airport without explanation. The Pobeda block reported that she was supposed to fly to Istanbul, where she had meetings planned. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, the politician was detained after her name appeared on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country.
Later, the head of Gagauzia was taken to the National Security Council of Moldova, where they said that in the near future Hutsul would be formally charged with violating the procedure for managing election funds, illegally financing election competitors and falsifying documents, and prosecutors would ask the court to place her under preliminary arrest.
