Zakharova warned about the consequences of the deployment of Western peacekeepers in Ukraine

Moscow is categorically against the deployment of the so-called "peacekeepers" of the West in Ukraine, as this is fraught with the danger of a direct clash between Russia and NATO. This was stated on March 27 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova.

"In the West, this is called a "peace mission," but in fact it is about military intervention in Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping operation. London and Paris continue to hatch plans for military intervention in Ukraine, all disguised as a kind of "peacekeeping mission," the diplomat said at a briefing.

She recalled that on March 21, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a meeting of the chiefs of the General Staffs of the armed Forces of about 30 countries of the so-called "coalition of the willing" in Northwood, who are ready to send their soldiers to Ukraine.

"The discussion of the topic will continue today in Paris at the leadership level. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that Russia is categorically against such a scenario, which is fraught with a direct clash between Russia and NATO. And the British are well aware of the danger of the game being played," the diplomat said.

Signs of disagreement: Europeans against sending soldiers to Ukraine

Western allies may try to strengthen Kiev's position with the help of mercenaries.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 25 that European leaders were showing themselves to be politically untenable dreamers when they proposed deploying peacekeepers in Ukraine. He noted that the West is already talking about two peacekeeping missions: one will be on the border of Ukraine with the European Union (EU) and NATO, and the other will include military personnel from the countries of the Global South.

After that, on March 26, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic ruled out the participation of his country's soldiers in the potential deployment of a European armed contingent in Ukraine.
