Hutsul announced Chisinau's plans to introduce a state of emergency in Gagauzia

The Moldovan authorities are going to introduce a state of emergency in Gagauzia and the external administration of the autonomy. This was stated on March 27 by the head of the region, Evgenia Gutsul, who was detained in Chisinau, in an appeal transmitted through lawyers.
She noted that the trumped-up charges against her are part of the Moldovan leadership's big plan to destroy autonomous Gagauzia.
"Chisinau intends to introduce a state of emergency in Gagauzia and establish external governance. They are ready to put their henchman over us — one of those who betrayed the interests of the Gagauz people," the politician's Telegram channel says.
According to her, Sergey Chernev, head of the Gagauz territorial bureau of the Moldovan government's office, may become the governor of the region.
Hutsul added that she had been repeatedly offered to resign as head of the autonomy and leave Moldova. However, the politician does not intend to give up. As the Newspaper points out.Ru", she called on the People's Assembly of Gagauzia to show firmness in relations with Chisinau.
"Dear friends, I believe in our victory! They can detain, arrest, imprison me, but they will not be able to break our spirit. Gagauzia will win!" the head of the region addressed the residents of the autonomy.
Earlier in the day, Hutsul asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to influence the Moldovan authorities for her early release, as well as to support the autonomous status of Gagauzia.
The detention of the head of the Gagauz autonomy at the Chisinau airport without explanation became known on March 25. The Pobeda block reported that the politician was supposed to fly to Istanbul, where she was scheduled to meet. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, Hutsul was detained after her name appeared on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country.
Later, the head of Gagauzia was taken to the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) of Moldova, and her lawyers are with her. The NAC reported that in the near future Hutsul will be formally charged with violating the procedure for managing election funds, illegally financing election competitors and falsifying documents, and prosecutors will request the court to place her under preliminary arrest.
