- NATO apologized for the hasty announcement of the death of four US soldiers in Lithuania.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte apologized for the premature announcement of the deaths of four American soldiers in Lithuania, and their search continues. Allison Hart, the alliance's press secretary, announced this on March 27.
"We regret any confusion related to the remarks made by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on this issue today," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Hart said Rutte had referred to media reports. According to her, formally, the NATO Secretary General "has not confirmed the fate of the missing, which is still unknown."
On March 26, it was reported that four American soldiers were killed during tactical exercises at the central training ground of the country's army in the city of Pabrad. Their deaths have not been officially confirmed. Rutte later stated the accuracy of this information, but said he did not know the details.
