Pakistan expects progress in relations with Russia in the coming years. This was stated on March 27 by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Muhammad Aurangzeb in an interview with Izvestia on the sidelines of the Boao Asian Forum (BAF) in China.

During the event, the Pakistani Finance Minister held talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk. Aurangzeb called the meeting very constructive, adding that Russia and Pakistan are currently considering cooperation in trade, industry and energy.

"We look forward to further discussions and more progress in the coming years," the minister said.

According to Aurangzeb, the expansion of Pakistani-Russian cooperation will ensure the development of regional transport corridors in Asia, including the North—South logistics system, improved infrastructure, and increased trade.

In addition, Islamabad will welcome any investments in its agriculture, mining, energy and information technology sectors.

Earlier, on March 18, Overchuk announced the discussion of the trial transportation of containers by rail to Pakistan as part of the development of the North—South transport corridor. According to him, India is showing interest in the transit of goods through this country.
