GITIS and its partners will launch a joint project

Afisha, GITIS and the Art Platform are launching a joint project, the Small Form Laboratory competition. Afisha will be the first among the largest domestic entertainment market players to develop a format for investment support for young creative teams. The competition combines education and culture with the interests of "cultural" business and nurtures future entrepreneurs in the field of creative industries.
As part of the laboratory competition, students of creative courses will have the opportunity to create a professional performance integrated into the system of the modern theatrical process. The project participants will gain experience working with practitioners of modern theater, skills of effective and successful working mechanisms for the implementation of creative tasks.
The marathon of "Small form" takes place in Moscow and this year consists of several stages. The basis of the future performance will be the works of Daniil Kharms. This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of this playwright, so the project will simultaneously coincide with the memorial date.
At the first stage, two teams of GITIS students will take part in the competition. Both will receive equal conditions for the preparation of the sketch: they will take part in master classes from experts, will receive a starting budget for the implementation of an artistic solution and will have the opportunity to rehearse on the stage of the "Art Platform" in the New Arena. The result will be presented at the final pitching – the defense of projects and the showing of sketches. Major masters and key figures of the modern stage have been invited to evaluate the works: Grigory Zaslavsky, rector of GITIS, Kirill Krok, director of the Yevg Theater. Vakhtangova, Oleg Menshikov, nar. Artist of Russia, artistic director of the Theater named after Ermolova and others.
The Small Form laboratory competition will be held every year and will give an obvious impetus to the development of new forms of theatrical business, an incentive for direct investments in the creative industries of Russia.
Evgeny Sidorov, Acting CEO of Afisha Company: "For Afisha, participation in the Small Form project is more than just support. We see this as an opportunity to really help young talents open up and show their ideas to the world. Thanks to our investments and close cooperation with GITIS and the Art Platform, the children will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of real theatrical production, get a taste of the profession and feel responsible to the public. This is a unique chance for each participant to go beyond educational productions and try their hand at creating a full-fledged performance. As with all our own and partner projects, we strive to create a space where culture comes to life and becomes accessible to everyone, and new names get a chance to express themselves."
