Rudenko reported on preparations for Lavrov's visit to the DPRK

Preparations are underway in Moscow for the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Pyongyang. This was announced to journalists on March 27 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.
He noted that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Russian Federation are negotiating an exchange of visits. It is planned that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will visit Russia.
"We are also discussing Lavrov's visit to continue a strategic dialogue with our Korean friends," RIA Novosti quoted Rudenko as saying.
Earlier, on March 16, Rudenko held talks in Pyongyang with North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Jong-gu and Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee. The representatives of the states agreed on the exchange of experience and bilateral cooperation, as well as on practical measures to strengthen relations between the countries.
On June 19, 2024, Pyongyang hosted the signing of a new comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and the DPRK. This document replaced earlier fundamental documents between Moscow and Pyongyang: the Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Assistance of 1961, the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation of 2000, and the Moscow and Pyongyang Declarations adopted in 2000 and 2001.
