The European military is discussing the possible deployment of a contingent of the "coalition of the willing" on the territory of Ukraine, including along the Dnieper River. This was reported on March 27 by the Associated Press.

"European troops will not be deployed on the front line in Ukraine and will not engage Russian troops on the first day. They will be the forces that will dissuade the Russians from a second offensive," the newspaper quoted French President Emmanuel Macron as saying.

It clarifies that the deployment of troops in western Ukraine or in neighboring countries is being considered as an alternative.

Earlier, on March 21, the countries of the so-called coalition of the willing decided not to send ground forces to Ukraine. Instead, Western countries plan to focus on ensuring air and maritime security for Kiev. A number of experts, in a conversation with the British newspaper Financial Times, attributed the change in approach to the lack of forces in the UK to deploy a large number of military personnel in Ukraine.
