- The Ministry of Finance has proposed to introduce the title of veteran of military journalism in the Russian Federation

On March 27, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation proposed to amend the law "On Veterans" with provisions on the status of a veteran of military journalism, which will allow employees to count on payments and benefits from the state for working in a combat zone.
"They have (military enlistment officers. — Ed.) there are no weapons, they are not participants in hostilities, but they risk their lives every day. Unfortunately, some of them get injured and even die. We believe that military journalists need additional support from the state," the ministry said in a statement on its website.
In addition to the introduction of veteran status for military personnel, the Ministry of Finance also proposes to increase compensation provided by law for injured media employees and relatives of deceased journalists. Along with this, there should be a special payment in case of injury or death of a correspondent in the special operation zone.
"Our task is to support journalists so that they know that their work is important and valuable," the ministry stressed.
