- Trump threatened the EU and Canada with tougher tariffs for cooperation against the United States

The United States will impose even tougher duties on goods from the European Union (EU) and Canada in the event of anti-American cooperation between Ottawa and Brussels. This was announced on March 27 by the American leader Donald Trump.
"If the European Union works with Canada to inflict economic damage on the United States, then large—scale duties will be imposed on both of them — much more extensive than currently planned," he wrote on the Truth Social network.
The President added that the United States was the best friend Canada and Europe had ever had.
A day earlier, Trump announced the introduction of 25 percent duties in the United States on all cars and trucks manufactured outside the country. He specified that these measures will come into force on April 2 and will be added to the existing ones. The White House estimates that approximately $100 billion in annual duties will be collected.
On the same day, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, expressed regret over the new tariff on cars in the United States. She stressed that Trump's tariffs harm businesses and consumers and said that the EU intends to defend its economic interests.
