The State Duma called on Rospotrebnadzor to check the safety of hair dyes

On March 27, State Duma deputy Sergei Leonov sent a letter to Rospotrebnadzor asking them to check the safety of hair dyes from European brands Schwarzkopf and Syoss.
According to RIA Novosti, Leonov cited a media report about the discovery of butylphenylmethylpropionale in the companies' products, which can lead to impaired reproductive function and contact dermatitis. He called for checking this information and, if confirmed, conducting unscheduled inspections at retail outlets.
In addition, the deputy recalled that back in 2023, Rospotrebnadzor had already confirmed the danger of lilium aldehyde for reproductive function.
In September 2024, Alexandra Fileva, a dermatologist and expert at the Hemotest Laboratory, told Izvestia how hair dyes can be dangerous and how to minimize the harm from them. According to her, they are made on the basis of two different types of dyes — non-oxidizing and oxidizing. At the same time, there is an opinion that colored hair starts to fall out more from aggressive chemicals.
