- The ambassador announced the imminent construction of a bridge between Russia and the DPRK across the Tumannaya River.

The Russian Federation and the DPRK will soon officially announce the start of construction of a road bridge over the Tumannaya River, and the parties are currently carrying out final preparatory work. This was announced on March 27 by the Russian Ambassador to Pyongyang, Alexander Matsegora.
He noted that specialists are currently finalizing the project documentation. Construction crews and columns of equipment necessary for the work are being formed on both sides.
"However, it's not long to wait, I hope that soon we will witness the solemn ceremony of the start of construction of this, without exaggeration, the most significant and important from a practical point of view object of bilateral cooperation in recent decades," RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying.
There are also many other promising bilateral projects of various scales in the joint plans of Moscow and Pyongyang, which will be announced later, Matsegora added.
The agreement on the construction of a border road bridge across the Tumannaya River was signed by the government of the Russian Federation and the DPRK during the visit of the Russian delegation on June 19, 2024. Roman Starovoit, the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia that the document was signed as part of the agreements between the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong—un, reached during the visit of the North Korean leader to Russia in September 2023.
Starovoit noted that the length of the highway bridge will be about 850 m. The Russian side will have to build a 300 m and 2.4 km approach from its side, as a continuation of the existing Ussuri highway.
