The United Nations (UN) expresses concern about civilian casualties in Russia's border regions and calls on the parties to the conflict to comply with international humanitarian law. This was stated on March 26 by UN Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya during a meeting of the Security Council.

The Assistant Secretary General noted that media reports speak of civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure in the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions of Russia."Газета.Ru ".

"I remind all parties that the protection of civilians and facilities is a duty enshrined in international law. This applies to the occupied territories and border areas," Msuya said.

The UN representative also recalled that indiscriminate attacks are "strictly prohibited" by international humanitarian law.

Earlier, on March 25, UN Secretary General's spokesman Stephane Dujarric condemned the attack by Ukrainian militants on journalists in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). According to him, it is important that journalists are protected and "never become victims."
