Trump announced the US intention to impose duties on imported medicines

The United States intends to impose duties on medicines manufactured outside the country. This was announced on March 26 by the American President Donald Trump.
"We are going to introduce tariffs on medicines to bring back our pharmaceutical industry. We don't produce anything here, if we talk about the different types of medicines that we need, they all do it abroad, mainly in China and Ireland," he told reporters at the White House.
According to him, such duties will be aimed at reducing the dependence of the United States on foreign supplies of vital drugs.
On the same day, Trump said that the United States does not rule out the possibility of reducing duties on goods from China in the event of a successful TikTok deal. He also added that there are many options for acquiring TikTok, and expressed confidence that the most profitable one for the United States will be chosen.
