On March 27, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the exploits of Russian military personnel committed in the area of a special military operation (SVO).

According to the agency, the unit, which included Corporal Ivan Vasin, carried out a combat mission to search for hidden firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) using technical reconnaissance equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). During the reconnaissance with the help of a drone, Vasin discovered a dilapidated house, where there was a hidden firing position with a machine-gun crew of the enemy.

Then he quickly assessed the situation and sent an attack UAV to the area of the positions of the Ukrainian militants. Having quickly determined the location of the enemy machine-gun crew, Corporal Vasin correctly calculated the flight path of the drone and destroyed it with a well-aimed hit. This further contributed to the advance of the Russian assault units deep into the enemy's defenses.

The Russian Defense Ministry also stated that the unit, which included Sergeant Dmitry Bystry, was in defensive formations in one of the most likely directions of the enemy's offensive. The sergeant, while at an observation post, was the first to detect two enemy kamikaze drones approaching the positions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Having estimated the distance to the target, he shot down both drones with small arms fire, which lost control, fell on approach to the observation post and detonated without damaging the personnel and fortifications of the Russian army. The ministry stressed that Dmitry Bystry prevented an attack on the positions of Russian troops and prevented losses among the personnel of the Russian Armed Forces unit.
