The doctor pointed out the benefits of tea in the prevention of heart disease

Galina Yemelyanova, a general practitioner and nutritionist at the FITZ of Nutrition and Biotechnology, told how tea reduces the risk of developing heart disease.
In conversation with aif.ru On Wednesday, March 26, the specialist noted that there are studies indicating the benefits of regular tea consumption (from two or more cups per day) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and increase life expectancy. Meanwhile, according to her, the hypothesis that this effect of tea is due to the fact that tea leaves extract heavy metals from water when brewed is not supported by many modern scientific data. The effect is rather due to the content of polyphenols in tea — catechins and theaflavins.
Catechins are a type of antioxidants that help reduce the level of "bad" cholesterol, protect the vascular endothelium from damage, and lower blood pressure, which is the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
Earlier, American scientists from Northwestern University in Illinois reported that tea leaves can draw out lead, cadmium and other heavy metals. They associated this effect with a lower risk of developing cardiovascular diseases in people who drink tea regularly.
In March, nutritionist Daria Rusakova advised replacing coffee with tea, chicory and matcha. According to her, caffeine is found not only in coffee, but also in black and green tea.
Also in March, allergist, immunologist, and therapist Lyudmila Lapa recommended removing chamomile tea from her diet because of the pollen released. She noted that allergy sufferers should drink water and fermented black tea.
In January, cardiologist Andrey Kondrakhin, in an interview with IA Regnum, said that the decrease in the likelihood of death from various diseases due to a cup of coffee drunk in the morning is due to the fact that caffeine stimulates the body by doing some kind of morning exercises. The specialist clarified that such an exercise for the body allows the heart to adapt to daily stress.
