Police officers, along with employees of the FSB of Russia, seized a Mosin rifle and ammunition from a man in the Biryulyovo Vostochnoye area. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow on Wednesday, March 26.

Employees of the criminal investigation Department of the Southern District of the capital, together with colleagues from the Federal Security Service of Russia in the capital and the Moscow region, with the participation of operatives of the GUUR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Criminal investigation Department of the Moscow Headquarters, detained a 57-year-old local resident suspected of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.

"When examining his place of residence, police officers found and seized a 7.62 mm Mosin rifle without a bolt, two bolts and bolt fragments, as well as eight 7.62 x 54 mm cartridges," the press service told the Moscow City News agency.

A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their main parts, ammunition"). A measure of coercion has been chosen for the person involved in the form of an obligation to appear.

On March 4, a court in the Glazovsky district of Udmurtia sentenced a 50-year-old local resident accused of illegal possession of weapons to suspended imprisonment for a period of four years. 360.ru .

It was established that in December 2024, the defendant, drinking alcohol, quarreled with his roommate. During the conflict, he began to intimidate the woman by showing firearms. In addition, industrial explosives and homemade cartridges were found in the man's possession.

Earlier, on December 7, 2023, a 14-year-old girl opened fire from her father's weapon at a Bryansk school, after which she committed suicide. As a result of the incident, five students were injured. One of the schoolgirls died. A criminal case has been opened into the murder of two or more persons (Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The girl's father Dmitry Afanaskin was sentenced to one year and eight months of correctional labor on March 25, 2025, RT reports. He was found guilty of negligent possession of firearms, which created conditions for their use by another person, resulting in the death and injury of minors.
