The Pobeda bloc may appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) after the detention of the head of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Hutsul. Representatives of the bloc informed Izvestia about this on March 26.

"The detention of Yevgenia Hutsul is not just a political massacre, it is an act of outright terror against Gagauzia, against the will of the people! The Moldovan authorities, on the orders of [Moldovan President Maia] Sandu and her European masters, seized the legitimately elected bashkan, interrogated him, took away his documents and locked him in dungeons without any legal grounds. <...> If the Moldovan courts do not stop this circus, the Hutsul case will inevitably end up in the ECHR. Gagauzia will not give up and will fight for its rights," they stressed.

The bloc also stressed that Sandu, which has not yet recognized the legitimately elected Bashkan, continues to put pressure on autonomy.

The detention of Hutsul at the Chisinau airport without explanation became known on March 25. The Pobeda block reported that the head of Gagauzia was supposed to fly to Istanbul, where she had meetings scheduled. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, the politician was detained after her name appeared on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country.

Later, the head of Gagauzia was taken to the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) of Moldova, and her lawyers are with her. Supporters of the Hutsul and the Moldovan opposition gathered outside the building, and the authorities pulled police forces into the area. Later, the Prosecutor General's Office of Moldova reported that the detention of the head of Gagauzia was connected with a ban on her departure from the republic.
