UAZ cars will receive upgraded engines

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will soon begin equipping cars of the new and old UAZ model ranges with engines of an improved design. The improved ZMZ 409th family engines will receive the Patriot, Pickup, Pro and Loaf models, a source at the enterprise told Izvestia on March 27.
The updated motor elements will be mass-supplied to the assembly line in the second quarter of this year. The test program is currently being completed.
As told to Izvestia at UAZ, the valve cover of the 2.7-liter gasoline unit with an increased number of attachment points to the cylinder head, including in the spaces between the holes of the candle wells, will increase the degree of reliability of the connection.
"Thus, the probability of oil leaks at the junctions of the parts will be reduced to zero. In addition, the valve sleeve guides pressed on new high—precision equipment will ensure maximum tightness of the combustion chamber and the efficiency of the gas distribution mechanism," the source explained.
The day before, it became known that in the near future, serial production of six-speed transmissions for the rear-wheel drive diesel UAZ Profi will begin at the facilities of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ). In the future, the production of such a transmission will be adjusted for UAZ Patriot SUVs with diesel engines.
