Russophobic sentiments undermine the foundations of European society from within. This was announced on March 26 by Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus Murat Zyazikov.

He noted that Russia stands for equal cooperation between states based on respect for mutual interests. Nevertheless, many countries of the so-called collective West, despite objective geopolitical changes, continue to be influenced by external forces and support anti-Russian measures.

"At the same time, it is obvious that the Russophobic sentiments prevailing in European high offices are destroying European society from the inside," the Russian diplomatic mission in Cyprus quoted Zyazikov as saying on the Telegram channel.

In addition, the diplomat added that economic sanctions against Russia have a similar negative impact on unfriendly states.

Zyazikov also called on Western countries in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism to recognize modern realities and realize the need to create a just and balanced world order that has no alternatives.

Alexey Kanaev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, said on December 11, 2024, that anti-Russian sanctions primarily harm their initiators. The politician noted that increasingly the collective West is beginning to call on third countries to put pressure on Russia. However, he believes that other states are unlikely to like such an imposition.
