Mishustin called margins one of the main factors driving up food prices.

The margins set by intermediaries are one of the key factors causing an increase in product prices. This was announced on March 26 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"The margins of intermediaries remain one of the significant factors of price growth. It is clear that the goods need to be beautifully packaged and delivered to the buyer, but the cost of these services should not exceed reasonable limits," he said during the presentation of the annual report to the State Duma on the work of the executive branch.
Mishustin stressed that the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is closely monitoring the price situation. If necessary, she takes drastic measures. The Head of government also stated the importance of increasing the level of control more actively.
Mishustin recalled that the regions have powerful tools for regulating prices and margins.
On March 17, it was reported that the FAS proposed to limit margins on socially significant products in all major Russian retail chains. If companies decide to participate in this program, they will need to provide data on product items for which additional payment restrictions will be imposed.
