Rutube announced a "Day of Silence" in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory

Rutube launches the Day of Silence program in connection with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War: on May 9, the video hosting service will not broadcast ads. This was announced to journalists on Tuesday, May 6, by Sergey Kosinsky, Deputy General Director, head of the digital unit of Gazprom-Media Holding.

"For 80 years now, May 9th has continued to be a special day for every family in Russia. This is the time when millions of people in our country watch the Victory Day Parade and other festive events on their screens, and then turn on their favorite war films and songs, or other video projects created specifically for Victory Day. We felt that it would be important for the content on Rutube to fully reflect the mood of this great day and allow our viewers to focus on their family traditions," said Sergey Kosinsky, adding that advertisers supported the video hosting company's decision.

In addition, on Victory Day, all episodes of the new TV series Taganrog about the Don resistance during the Nazi occupation, as well as projects about the Great Patriotic War such as Borzenko, will be made available for free on Rutube. The Ring behind the Barbed Wire" and Sergey Minaev's documentary "The Color of History".

Additionally, on May 9, the Gosfilmofond's library of documentary content with a unique historical chronicle of 1941-1945 and the Yappy documentary series "45 Days before Victory" with stories of contemporaries of the Great Patriotic War will be released on Rutube.

On May 4, the action of the Popular Front "Fire of Memory" started in Moscow. Activists gathered at the walls of the Moscow Kremlin in the Alexander Garden to transfer the particles of Eternal Flame taken from the Grave of the Unknown Soldier into special lamps. They will be taken to Russian regions and other states to light Eternal Fires and Fires of Memory from the flame particles.
