Europe does not want to accept the position of US President Donald Trump on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and dialogue with Russia due to concerns about reputational losses. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova on Wednesday, March 26.

"There can only be guesses, but European leaders have said a lot during the conflict. Trump did not have this, it is easier for him to get in touch with our country, because categorical statements were made by his predecessor Joe Biden and his administration," the politician said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The parliamentarian believes that Europe cannot enter into a dialogue with Russia, because this would imply a rejection of a number of theses that were voiced earlier.

"Now they don't understand how to get out of the situation without reputational losses. But it's better to get out somehow than to allow new human casualties," the politician concluded.

The day before, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that European leaders show themselves to be politically untenable dreamers when they propose to deploy peacekeepers on the territory of Ukraine, RT reports.

He noted that the West is already talking about two peacekeeping missions: one will be on the border of Ukraine with the European Union (EU) and NATO, and the other will include military personnel from the countries of the Global South. 360.ru .

As Lavrov noted, European states are following in the footsteps of Napoleon and Adolf Hitler, trying to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. Now the European Union, led by German Ursula von der Leyen, has embarked on a remilitarization program for fabulous money. Also, according to the minister, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are zealous, ready to continue pumping weapons into Ukraine.

Earlier, on March 11, the Russian Foreign Minister said that the proposal to send peacekeepers to Ukraine looked like an attempt to save the Kiev regime. In his opinion, it is necessary, first of all, to put an end to anti-Russian laws in the Ukrainian state, and not to introduce peacekeeping contingents.
