A resident of the Moscow region received 10 years in prison for financing terrorism

A resident of Orekhovo-Zuyevo near Moscow received 10 years for financing terrorism. This was reported on March 26 by the GSU of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Moscow region.
"The evidence collected by the investigator of the investigative department for the city of Orekhovo-Zuyevo of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow region was found by the court to be sufficient to sentence the 62-year-old local resident. He was found guilty of financing terrorism (part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). <...> The court sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.
As it was established, on March 6 and 26, 2021, the defendant, while at the Orekhovo-Zuyevo shopping center, made a money transfer to a card to a person who was engaged in financing an international terrorist organization.
In February 2023, the recipient of the transfers was convicted under several articles for crimes of a terrorist nature (Part 3 of Article 33 of the Criminal Code, Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code and Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code, organization of crime, persuasion and recruitment).
"Interrogations, inspections, and searches were conducted in the criminal case, phone details were analyzed, and information about account movements was studied. The collected evidence formed the basis of the charges and the verdict," the Telegram channel of the department said.
On March 6, it was reported that the Southern District Military Court sentenced Dmitry Levin, a resident of Novorossiysk, to 15 years in prison for transmitting data about the Russian Navy to the special services of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the man joined a terrorist organization.
