In the second and final reading, the Armenian parliament adopted a draft law on the beginning of the country's accession process to the European Union (EU). This was reported by Sputnik Armenia on March 26.

It is specified that 64 deputies voted for the adoption of the document, seven opposed it.

The opposition Hayastan faction refused to participate in the vote, while the I Have the Honor faction voted against.

Earlier, on February 28, the head of the "I have the Honor" faction, Hayk Mamidzhanyan, told Izvestia that the Armenian parliament plans to consider the draft law on the beginning of the EU accession process in the second reading in early March.

Prior to that, on February 12, the Armenian Parliament adopted the relevant draft in the first reading. The European Commission (EC) told Izvestia that the process of Yerevan's rapprochement with the EU is gaining momentum, but it has not yet submitted an official application for joining the union. At the same time, Ruslan Andreev, a political consultant and expert at the Polylogue Group, told Izvestia that the draft law on Armenia's accession to the EU has zero value and threatens the country's national interests.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on February 12 that Armenia has a sovereign right to European integration.
