ZMZ will start production of new gearboxes for UAZ

In the near future, serial production of six-speed transmissions for the UAZ Profi diesel rear-wheel drive will begin at the facilities of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ). In the future, the production of such a transmission will be adjusted for UAZ Patriot SUVs with diesel engines. This was reported to Izvestia on March 26 by a source at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
Such manual transmissions are already installed on the Sollers Atlant and Argo models. Recently, a pilot batch of new manual transmission modifications for ST6 and ST8 pickups was released — for both diesel and gasoline versions.
The volume of production of manual transmissions in the Trans—Volga region is planned to increase almost three times this year - from last year's 5,000 units to almost 15,000 units.
On January 13, it was reported that the debut of the diesel Patriot is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. The SUV will receive the same diesel engine as the UAZ Profi light truck. This is a two-liter unit, which is manufactured at the Sollers Alabuga plant. On Sollers Argo commercial vehicles, it develops 130 hp (288 Nm). Currently, the Patriot is offered with an alternative 2.7-liter ZMZ-Pro engine with a capacity of 150 hp (235 Nm), which works in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission.
