British analyst Mercuris questioned the success of Europe's rearmament

The plan to rearm Europe will face serious problems and eventually fail, according to British analyst Alexander Merkouris. He stated this on March 26 on his YouTube page.
"Anyone who thinks that Europe will spend 800 billion euros on defense in the coming years is deeply mistaken. This money will simply disappear into various projects or debt payments," said Merkouris.
According to him, the story of the COVID-19 epidemic recovery fund will repeat, when "money was allocated anywhere but for recovery."
Also, according to the analyst, the main problem is the lack of the necessary industrial base, without which the implementation of rearmament plans is impossible.
Earlier, on March 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the signals from Europe mostly relate to plans for militarization, rather than readiness for negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. The president's press secretary added that now the European union has rather turned "into a party of war."
