Trump accused the EU countries of continuing to steal from the United States

The European Union (EU) countries turned out to be worse enemies for the United States, because for 45 years they robbed the country, while Washington was "soft and weak." This was announced on March 26 by the American leader Donald Trump.
"Look, we've been ripped off by other countries for 45 years. We've always been soft and weak. It's almost as if we had people who didn't know what they were doing. We were just ripped off as a country, that's why we have $36 trillion in debt," he said in an interview with the Newsmax portal.
As the President of the United States noted, now it's time for America to return most of this money.
"We couldn't let this continue. And, you know, friends, so-called friends, were often worse than enemies. Look at the European Union, what they have done to this country, how they have robbed it. And China, you know that," he added.
On March 24, Yuri Ichkitidze, senior analyst at Freedom Finance Global, told Izvestia that the United States was not in danger of default due to economic reasons, but the situation was complicated by the legislative debt limit. According to him, in order to avoid default, Republicans and Democrats need to agree on raising the national debt limit.
On the same day, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Trump plans to raise tariffs on G20 countries with which there is a trade imbalance on April 2.
