US President Donald Trump has signed a decree obliging American voters to confirm their citizenship when registering to vote in the presidential election. The relevant document was published on the White House website on March 25.

"The Election Assistance Commission will require that the government provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in the voter registration forms," the publication says.

It is noted that the relevant decree will increase the rate of fair elections in the country. In addition, it will prohibit states from counting ballots received by commission staff after election day by mail.

It clarifies that an official of the state or local government must indicate on the form the type of the applicant's document confirming citizenship, as well as the date of issue and expiration of the document, the issuing agency and other unique data.

In turn, states that do not contribute to ensuring election security will face reduced federal funding.

On March 22, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Security (MIA) The United States will dissolve three internal oversight agencies that "obstructed" immigration control by investigating complaints and protecting the interests of immigrants.

According to The Washington Post, the agency had about 300 employees in the past, which is a small proportion of the approximately 260 thousand employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
