The European Union should not hinder the negotiations between Russia and the United States on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. This was announced on March 25 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

"Only negotiations between the United States and Russia are a solution to the conflict in Ukraine. Only these negotiations can lead to peace, and therefore we hope that Brussels will not hinder the success of these negotiations," he said in a video message posted on his Facebook page (the social network belongs to the Meta company, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

Szijjarto also expressed gratitude to the American leader Donald Trump and stressed that such negotiations were impossible before his assumption of the presidency.

"Today, the US-Russian negotiations, direct negotiations, have the advantage that the risk of large-scale escalation has significantly decreased. Today, the world has become safer, and we have taken another step towards peace in Ukraine," he added.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister clarified that progress had been made during the talks on important issues such as facilitating a ceasefire, safe navigation in the Black Sea, and the return of Russian agriculture and the food industry to the international market.

Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin Senate, told Izvestia on March 26 that the Russian-American talks on Ukraine in Riyadh were the first step towards restoring peace in Europe. Lindemann stressed the importance of the EU's support for the initiative. According to him, this will benefit, first of all, the European countries themselves.
