After Kiev's statements about agreeing to a 30-day cease-fire, European countries immediately changed their position on the inadmissibility of a truce. This was stated on March 25 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Channel One.

"On March 11, in Jeddah, for the first time, the Kiev regime announced that it agreed to a 30-day truce. He immediately turned the "arrows" to Russia, saying, let's immediately agree without question. All sorts of Macrons, Starmers, and Fonderleins immediately began shouting that now the "ball" was on the side of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Although three days before they all said that there was no truce, they needed to "pump up" Ukraine so that it would act from a position of strength before sitting down at the negotiating table," Lavrov is quoted as saying on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Russian Foreign Minister also drew attention to the fact that Europe intends to "undermine" the role of the United States in resolving the Ukrainian conflict, and also does not want to eliminate its root causes.

"I mentioned the root causes: NATO, the extermination of the rights of the Russian population, everything that is connected with Russia legally and physically," Lavrov said.

On March 25, Lavrov pointed to the silence of the West in response to the attack of Ukrainian drones on Russian territory, which occurred after the ceasefire agreement on energy infrastructure. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 23 that Ukraine's failure to comply with the agreements could be another reason for a conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump.
